Methadone

Methadone is a synthetic opioid medication that is FDA approved to treat addiction. It works by binding the opiate receptors in your brain and is extremely effective at eliminating withdrawal symptoms like nausea and vomiting as well as cravings. It is the most extensively studied and used medication to treat addiction and is considered the best and safest treatment when prescribed by a doctor according to SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration).

Methadone is Ascent’s preferred method of treatment and is given by our trained staff of medical professionals initially to ensure your safety and effective results. After a short period of time, take-home doses can be given for your convenience. Some quick facts about methadone are:

  • 1 Lasts about 24 to 36 hours. This means that once an effective dose is found, you should remain withdrawal and craving free in between doses which helps prevent relapse.
  • 2 The long life of methadone allows your body time to repair and naturally correct the damage done to opiate receptors from addiction.
  • 3 It is the safest and preferred method in pregnancy even over buprenorphine-based therapy.
  • 4 Methadone is the best standard in addiction treatment according to SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration).

Suboxone and buprenorphine

Suboxone, or buprenorphine-based therapy is an effective option and acts similarly to methadone in that it eliminates withdrawal and cravings. During your initial consultation with our physician, you will discuss your needs and determine which treatment is right for you.

Ascent Recovery Solutions
Sublocade

ONCE MONTHLY Sublocade is now available and is often covered by Medicaid and Medicare plans.  Ascent Recovery Solutions is proud to offer Sublocade as another option to our patients.  Sublocade works like other medications by keeping withdrawal symptoms and cravings suppressed; however, unlike other oral medications it is given roughly once a month and can provide 24/7 relief from withdrawal and other symptoms.  In one study, Sublocade patients were 14x more likely to achieve treatment success*.  As a slow release medication, it can help avoid the ups and downs that patients may experience with oral treatments like films and tablets.  It also means no medication to keep track of or bring with you wherever you go.  This also means less worries about the pharmacy having it in stock.  Since Sublocade is a once monthly injection, it reduces visits and time spent in the doctor’s office which is ideal for patients who work or have irregular schedules.  Call today to learn more and see how to get started with Sublocade.

Naloxone

Ascent offers naloxone (commonly referred to as NARCAN) overdose kits without a prescription. Naloxone is FDA approved to reverse the symptoms of an overdose and give you time to get lifesaving treatment in the event you or a loved one experiences an overdose. Having one of these kits is strongly recommended for anyone in treatment. Often times, it is friends and family who will use the kit to save the life of a loved one. So we can provide kits while showing you and anyone you would like how to use it properly.

*28% of people with SUBLOCADE plus counseling compared to 2% of people with placebo plus counseling.

*In a 24-week study, treatment success was defined as opioid-free at least 80% of the weeks in treatment. Opioid-free means urine sample tested negative for illicit opioids plus no self-reported use of opioids. Weeks were not always consecutive.
