Comprehensive Therapies for People in Substance Abuse Recovery
Suboxone and buprenorphine
Suboxone, or buprenorphine-based therapy is an effective option and acts similarly to methadone in that it eliminates withdrawal and cravings. During your initial consultation with our physician, you will discuss your needs and determine which treatment is right for you.
ONCE MONTHLY Sublocade is now available and is often covered by Medicaid and Medicare plans. Ascent Recovery Solutions is proud to offer Sublocade as another option to our patients. Sublocade works like other medications by keeping withdrawal symptoms and cravings suppressed; however, unlike other oral medications it is given roughly once a month and can provide 24/7 relief from withdrawal and other symptoms. In one study, Sublocade patients were 14x more likely to achieve treatment success*. As a slow release medication, it can help avoid the ups and downs that patients may experience with oral treatments like films and tablets. It also means no medication to keep track of or bring with you wherever you go. This also means less worries about the pharmacy having it in stock. Since Sublocade is a once monthly injection, it reduces visits and time spent in the doctor’s office which is ideal for patients who work or have irregular schedules. Brixadi is a once monthly buprenorphine based injection therapy that works 24/7. Unlike previous injections it is generally considered painless as it is a smaller dose. It is an EXTREMELY effective option and one of our most recommended for patients when possible. It avoids the highs and lows associated with tablets making it more effective at controlling withdrawal and cravings. It is generally accepted Medicaid, Medicare, Marketplace, and even many commercial plans .During your initial consultation with our team, you will discuss your needs and determine which treatment is right for you.
Vivitrol is another great Once-a-Month option but is for patients who are not actively using or have even been sober for a long time. We normally see this for patients who have sucessfully detoxed or stopped using for a period and who wish to not use or who worry they may relapse again. It is not an opioid so it is great in these patients as it still prevents the high associated with drugs and lessens the cravings as well but is non-narcotic and still works 24/7.
*28% of people with SUBLOCADE plus counseling compared to 2% of people with placebo plus counseling.
*In a 24-week study, treatment success was defined as opioid-free at least 80% of the weeks in treatment. Opioid-free means urine sample tested negative for illicit opioids plus no self-reported use of opioids. Weeks were not always consecutive.
